HomeNetIQ ("we", "us") provides home networking, device support, and practical AI services for homes and small offices in Alberta. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and your choices. It applies to our website homenetiq.ca and to messages you send us (e.g., email or the contact form). This policy is provided in accordance with Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA, SA 2003, c P-6.5).
2 Information we collect
- Information you provide — name, email, phone number, and message content when you contact us via the website or by email.
- Technical information — standard data your browser sends (IP address, user agent, pages viewed). We do not sell or broker personal data.
- Service providers — we use trusted vendors to operate our site: Form submissions may be processed by Formspree; basic traffic metrics may be measured by Google Analytics.

4 Legal bases
HomeNetIQ is subject to Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). Where personal information crosses provincial or national borders in the course of commercial activity, the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) may also apply. We process information on one or more of the following bases:
- Consent — e.g., when you submit our contact form.
- Reasonable purpose — to provide services you requested or to manage our business relationship with you.
- Legal obligation — to comply with applicable laws, including PIPA and PIPEDA.
7 Retention
We retain information only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described in this policy, to provide services, or to meet legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. In accordance with PIPA, when personal information is no longer required for a reasonable business or legal purpose, we destroy it or render it non-identifiable within a reasonable timeframe.
8 Security & breach notification
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards suitable for a small business, including HTTPS encryption, limited access to submissions, and vendor due diligence. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; please use caution when sharing sensitive details online.
In accordance with PIPA, if a privacy breach occurs and a reasonable person would consider there to be a real risk of significant harm, we will notify the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta without unreasonable delay and will notify affected individuals as required.
9 International transfers
Some of the service providers we use are based outside Canada. In accordance with PIPA, we disclose the following:
- Formspree, Inc. (form processing) — may store submissions in the United States.
- Google LLC (analytics) — may process traffic data in the United States and other countries where Google operates data centres.
These providers are authorized only to process information for the purposes described in this policy. You may request written details about our policies and practices regarding foreign service providers by contacting us at support@homenetiq.ca.
10 Your choices & rights
Under PIPA, you have the right to:
- Request access to the personal information we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate personal information.
- Withdraw consent for the collection, use, or disclosure of your personal information (subject to legal or contractual restrictions, on reasonable notice).
To exercise these rights, contact us at support@homenetiq.ca. We will respond within 45 days, as required by PIPA. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to file a complaint with the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta (OIPC) at oipc.ab.ca or by calling 780-422-6860.
11 Children
Our website and services are intended for adults. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we'll take appropriate steps to remove it.
12 Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we post changes, we'll update the "Effective" date above. Significant changes will be highlighted on this page.
